Shannon McQuade and Dana Nitti - Owners
We met in 2016 while working at sister event production companies in San Diego, California. We immediately became friends, as we both shared a common passion for creating memorable events and a goal of one day starting our own event companies. When COVID-19 hit, and the event, tourism, and hospitality industries were paused, we were left wondering what the future held and if, just maybe, this was the right time to start thinking about venturing out on our own. While the country was on lockdown, we used the time to brainstorm ideas for the future, and SD Event Production and Celebration of Life Events was born!
Shannon is the "S" in SD!
Born and raised in San Diego, Shannon has worked in retail, real estate, and public relations, before joining the events industry in 2012. Over the past decade, she rose through the ranks from coordinator to sales and event producer, before deciding to branch out and start her own business. Shannon is also a certified Wedding Coordinator through the New York Institute of Art & Design. In her free time, you can find her walking her dog on the beach, watching standup comedy shows, or meeting up with friends for a glass of wine - usually a Pinot Noir.
Dana is the "D" in SD!
Dana is a San Diego native who started her career in the nonprofit sector raising money for local charitable organizations. As director of development for 13 years, she oversaw the strategic fundraising plan that included special events, annual giving, grants, and capital campaigns. Dana has experience as client services manager for a destination management company, as well as an in-house meeting planner, and is a certified meeting professional (CMP) with 20 years of experience in event planning and management. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and family barbeques.
